The guiding inspiration behind creating Wurus Art Jewelry came from my love and obsession with statement jewelry. I believe that unique jewelry empowers you to embrace your individuality and makes you feel like you are wearing a piece of art. Growing up, my late mother was my muse. She adorned herself with the most beautiful gold jewelry.

The beauty and elegance she exuded transcended through her accessories, sparking my lifelong fascination with jewelry. Wurus Art Jewelry is my way of honoring her memory and my Senegalese African heritage.

Each piece is meticulously handcrafted in the heart of Nairobi, Kenya that celebrates the skills and creativity of artisans. "Wurus" pronounced "Wooroos" means gold metal in Wolof Senegalese language, my native language.

The name Wurus captures the brand's essence by melding the rich gold tones of brass with raw repurposed materials such as cow horn, cow bone, glass, seeds, stones, copper, aluminum, wood and resin to create a durable one-of-a-kind jewelry rooted in culture and artistry.

What distinguishes our jewelry is its organic, raw, geometric, irregular design shapes that radiates personality and character. Each piece leaves the imprints of the hands that created it. It tells a story. It's never about perfection and that's the beauty of artisanal handmade work. Most of our wearable art jewelry designs are unique and not duplicated - made for the woman who dares to stand out and command any room with pride. In many African cultures, maximalism isn't extra.
